  1. Understand the syllabus.

The first chapter on Real numbers and the three chapters to follow in Algebra: Polynomials, Linear Equations in two variables, and Quadratic equations are relatively easy to understand and master at the textbook level.

Arithmetic progression and Coordinate geometry are easier to understand, but the

problem-solving at the NCERT level itself can be more challenging. The CBSE board also

finds these chapters a good choice for the 10 percentile of questions, which are always

tough.

The next two chapters on Trigonometry will not be difficult if you can appreciate the basic

concept of Trigonometry, which simplifies the calculation of any area by dividing it into

triangles completely and dividing each triangle into atmost two right triangles. Further, we

will measure all sides and angles by having an input of any two of these dimensions.

Triangles and Circles will be straightforward if you have been a reasonably good student

of Geometry in 9th grade, because there would be less than 25% of the conceptual

understanding required compared to 9th grade.

Finally, two chapters in Mensuration and a chapter each in Statistics and Probability are

the last module in each of the three branches introduced from the 7th grade.

  1. Now, starting with your preparation, follow the order that is engaged in your tuition center, if you are given personal attention there. Schools can't provide good teachers in all batches in 10th grade due to a lack of very good faculty for multiple reasons. Don’t find yourself between both teachers and get confused about what to focus.

  2. Make sure you are through with all the textbook problems by November 1st before solving guides, as CBSE would stick to textbook problems or very similar ones for 80% of the questions in the final exam.

  3. Try to have a file for each chapter with a fair copy of textbook problems and further problems from different perspectives and difficulty levels that you have come across during the year from your school and your tuition center. This would be very valuable during the last couple of days before the board exam.

  4. Until the board exam, focus on mastering each chapter rather than giving too much importance to cycle tests and periodic tests. You may dedicate two weeks before your first term exam, so that it helps with your confidence.

  5. After you complete portions in school, start preparing at a higher level for your model exam. Proactively seek the help of your teachers and friends, as your model exams set by your school will be more difficult than the final board exam. A good performance will boost your confidence and that of the people around you.

  6. Once your model exams are over, solve questions from the model exams available in guides, and don’t give importance to the time factor. This will help you identify gaps in the syllabus

  7. Work on the chapters where you still do not have clarity on a conceptual level or when questions get tricky, and be proactive in seeking help from teachers and friends.

  8. Next, you may collect model exams set by schools in your city, which have been established over the years, and solve them as a mock exam. Always make sure you identify what has gone wrong and take the effort to clear doubts. Otherwise, this exercise will be of no use. You may also give these exams at home, at the same time you will be writing your board exam, so that you train your system in totality.

  9. Finally, during the last few days, give importance to your mind, body, and soul. Restrict food from unknown sources, stay away from public places that might expose you to viruses, and try to visit close people and worship centers. Here we do not recommend problem solving, which can affect your confidence, and the file for every chapter will be a very useful investment.

Be confident of your preparation and the entire system of teachers in your school, your entire family members, and your tuition center will work for your performance in 10th grade compared to the 9th grade when you first encountered problem solving at a new level, and also became more involved in extracurricular activities for the first time in your life.
